A Look Inside Our HEPA Filter
1st: Pre Filter
Intercept large suspended particles like hair, dust, lint and fur
Inertial Impaction
Inertial impaction happens with larger particles that collide directly with the fibers of the filter. Larger particles are unable to adjust quickly to the air stream due to inertia and continue along its original path directly into the fiber.
Sieving
Sieving is when a large particle is trapped by a filter because it is too large to pass through the hole in between the filter fibres. The air stream carries a particle between two fibers, but the particle is larger than the gap, so it becomes ensnared.
2nd: H13 HEPA Filter
Traps pollen, pet dander, dust mites,
Interception
Interception occurs when a particle is following a path and comes within one particle radius away from the filter fibres and brushes up against it. The fiber captures the particle and is removed from the gas flow.
Diffusion
Diffusion refers to the filtration method where smaller particles move in a zigzag or random path and ends up sticking to the filter fibres. Diffusion primarily happens to particles smaller than 0.1 microns in size and with slower air flow.
3rd: Activated Carbon
Neutralises odours in the air, absorbs formaldehyde
Adsorption
Activated carbon works via a process called adsorption, whereby pollutant molecules are trapped inside the structure of the carbon substrate. Simply put, the process of adsorption allows carbon air filters to filter organic chemicals (gases) from the air.
